EPWS Board Positions - 2010/2011 Election
Dear Ladies,
The next Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in September, 2010, and the board has started to prepare for the election of the new EPWS board executives for 2010 – 2011. If you are interested in running for a board position you will find the description of what positions are available, how you can apply and how the election works on our website www.epws-shanghai.org. Currently, we have five women on the board which means that each has more than one responsibility.
There has been another change on our board as Cisca Wikkeling had to give up her position as EPWS treasurer due to her new job. The EPWS board is happy and thankful that Alexandra Wassenhoven has taken over on short notice. Alexandra is a long time member of EPWS and served on the board last year as Vice President.
President
The EPWS President is responsible for exercising the general supervision over the affairs of EPWS. This person is responsible for the performance of Executive Board members and the board meetings. The President represents EPWS in external relations, including liaise with all relevant Chambers and Societies.
Vice President
The EPWS Vice President is responsible for coordinating a minimum of ten (10) events per year, including the Annual General Meeting and oversees other event coordinators, managing external meetings with event coordinators and attending the events. There are typically 4-5 events per month. There is to be a Women of Vision and Breakfast each month with 2-4 additional evening events. The VP shall present a quarterly schedule of events, which shall be agreed upon by the Executive Board. The VP shall provide information at least one month in advance of each event to the Webmaster, the administrator and the Marketing Communications and Membership Executives.
Membership Executive
The Membership Executive is responsible for coordinating, maintaining and expanding the membership base. This person is responsible for overseeing the design, updating and distribution of the membership card within two weeks of each event. The Membership Executive shall update and distribute the membership directory at least once per membership year. The Membership Executive shall plan and conduct membership drives on a bi-annual bases in order to increase membership. The drives shall be social events open to members and their partners/friends. The Membership Executive is responsible for connecting with relevant businesses interesting in providing special benefits for the EPWS Membership Base. The Membership Executive shall provide benefits information to Webmaster to post updating as when required.
Marketing Communications Executive
The Marketing Communications Executive is responsible for promoting the EPWS through various (media) channels in Shanghai. This position is responsible for communicating the EPWS events through website listings, creating media buzz around the EPWS and coming up with new and creative idea for extra exposure.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for keeping all funds and maintaining detailed records of all financial transactions on behalf of EPWS. Furthermore, at the Annual General Meeting the treasurer is asked to prepare and present the final financial report. As EPWS has on average 4 to 5 events a month the time required for this role is approximately 6 hours per month including the monthly Board Meeting.
Newsletter Editor / Historian
The Newsletter Editor oversees the editing of a minimum of ten newsletters per board year and ensures the newsletter is a timely, professional and reliable source of information. This person liaises with any relevant EPWS board member as appropriate and with the Webmaster and Administrative Assistant in order to ensure dissemination of newsletter content. It has to guarantee the timely emailing of all monthly calendars, events, special information, reminders, etc. through the EPWS emailing system. This board position shell be combined with the Historian whose main responsibilities are keeping a record of all constitutional changes and collecting and organizing all relevant files.
Webmaster
The Webmaster ensures the timely update of all events, special information, monthly sponsors, calendars, etc. on the EPWS website. Also must fulfill special duties like email administration or specializing certain functions of the site.
Special Events Executive
The Special Event Executive ensures that at least one special event occurs each board year. This person plans, organizes and oversees all phases of all special events.
