Evening Event: Chinese Symbolism

EPWS is proud that Ms. Marybelle Hu shares with us her knowledge of Chinese symbolism. In China symbols play an important role in everyday life and even more during festivals like the upcoming Chinese New Year. This is a great opportunity to find out more about mysterious and also common symbols. Afterwards you will surely know what gift to bring to the next invitation of your Chinese business partner, to a Chinese family dinner or to a dear friend.

- What is the meaning of those traditional symbols?
- How are the symbols applied in everyday life?
- How are the symbols represented in arts, crafts, furniture and accessories?
Speaker's Bio:
Marybelle Hu was born 1955 in Taipei, Taiwan. Her family moved to the United States in 1965. She was educated at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. She moved to Shanghai in 1994 and started Hu & Hu Antiques in 1998, followed by Hu & Hu Sofa in 2003.
